DHL to build its largest U.S. service center in New York City

DHL has announced plans to build its largest U.S. service center facility in New York City, New York. The USD $181 million investment will consolidate two existing service center locations into a new 161,125-sq.-ft. facility to serve Manhattan pickup, delivery and sorting operations. Strategically located to provide rapid egress and regress through below-grade access through the Lincoln Tunnel, the new service center will increase throughput capacity from 10,000 to 15,000 pieces per hour, enhance the efficiencies of the New York City DHL operation by combining multiple operations under one roof, and secure DHL's ability to maintain a high level of service for years to come. Trucking firms represented on Forbes list

Trucking companies and trucking suppliers are well represented in this year’s Forbes Platinum 400, the financial magazine’s annual list of “America’s Best Big Companies.”
Arkansas Best Corp., C.H. Robinson, the Hub Group, J.B. Hunt Transport, Landstar System, Pacer International, and Werner Enterprises each were named in the transportation industry; BorgWarner, Paccar and Volvo were selected in consumer durables; Caterpillar, Cummins and Ingersoll-Rand made the capital goods list; and Lubrizol was among the noteworthy chemical companies.
Arkansas Best, a transportation holding company whose largest subsidiary is ABF Freight System Inc., has earned a place on the list for six consecutive years thanks in part to a management focus on “return on capital employed,” according to David Humphrey, the company’s director of investor relations.
