YRC Seeks Economic Relief

The following is a statement from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Freight Division:

YRC Worldwide Inc. management has been seeking economic relief in the National Master Freight Agreement for several weeks. Following the recent downgrading of its debt rating by both Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service and its impact on the company’s ability to maintain a line of credit, the Teamsters General Executive Board today unanimously agreed to permit representatives from the Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee to enter into discussions with YRC immediately to determine how to best preserve Teamsters jobs and protect benefits.

Please go to www.teamster.org for the latest updates on discussions with YRC.

I hope the international remembers Bill Zollars image at the Olympics this summer, doing his MSNBC interview from Bejing and telling everyone how everything was moving along smoothly. The rank and file will likely allow concessions as long as the company grants the rank and file one concession-- It's time for Bill Zollars and his immediate management team to step down and allow someone else to take control of the runaway train called YRCW.

I hope YRC gets their act together I have been laid off more than i have worked and when you have six people in your family that depend on you for personal reasons it is very hard to survive on unemployment alone and their are really no jobs around here unless you want to drive fifty miles one way to work as a casual for ups and be on a two hour work call some of the people in the lancaster facility need to retire i think thirty plus years of employment at yellow they should already have their ducks in a row and able and willing to retire after all it is time you have made your money let the next generation earn theirs and provide for their family as you have yours

I hope the union is firm on this point.MAKE SURE THE MANAGEMENT GIVES CONCESSIONS TOO.Like Zollars giving back his 40 million dollar bonus..Every time the union gave concessions in the past These Company's shutdown, and blame the union for there CORPORATE GREED.
Wickham,and Roush SOLD US OUT.
I seen this day coming from day one.
How do these people sleep at night knowing that there Greed caused many family's Distress, and believe me this Company is done.Seen this all too many times in the past.
There is no,and I do mean no leadership on management side.Just a bunch of FOLLOWERS..All the people who knew this industry and ran it well are all gone, and the ones led by coat tails are left..This is Sad ..I got 25 years with Roadway, and I say SHUT R DOWN

Concessions??NO WAY IN HELL!!!!How about you giving back all the bonus money and your overpaid salary Zollars.Lets get rid of the useless overhead such as that news paper that I took deer hunting. What are you going to do with the extra money you will be receiving by getting rid of operations, terminal and inner management by combining these terminals??This is not to say the buildings and property of these terminals.Concessions??Its sounds like to me you are going to try to double dip. These drivers and dock workers work very hard for their money. You are already talking about cutting the teamsters jobs by 30 percent by combining these terminals.Enough is enough Zollars!!The workers of YRC are unhappy with the road you are taking by resolving this problem.Maybe unhappy is putting it too light, lets use irrate!!Lets send all the sales team out to vegas again to meet. How many thousands of dollars did that cost??If the teamsters happen to sell us out, maybe its time for the members to take a good look at THEIR salarys.Six digits for sitting behind a desk and smoking cigarettes allday while attending a few meetings during the week maybe excessive also. Our insurance and retirement has dwindled over the years.Mr Zollars--its time for you to clean out your desk and dont forget about those golf clubs in the closet.

Any kind of give back plan must have a pay back plan! YRC must start at the top with pay cuts. They are the ones who got all of us in this mess. We need stocks or total repayment of the funds giving in relief. Just remember 100 % of all trucking companys giving relief have failed.

There's no way we should give them back a red cent. At my Tannersville facility, we have more foremen and management walking around with there hands in there pockets then union workers that actually work. A down turn in business my ass i'm working on average 54 hours a week .Last week 6 and 7 punches were available. We are actually turning customers away telling them... we can't pick up there freight because we were out of man hours...What ? If my facility is doing it how man others? Theres the so-called down turn.Finally..If Hoffa agrees to these concessions is he willing to take a dues concession ? Whats he going to sacrafice ? Let them take 10 percent of my pension contribution. Our investers are only going to lose it anyhow. Happy Holidays to Bill Z and his 30+ vice presidents.

AS an employ of USF I can tell you that our company has went in the dumpster since YRC bought us out, I hate to lose my job but I say don't give them nothing let them shut the whole #@@#%&* down greedy sons of @###@#

I agree the CEO needs to take a cut and give back his bonuses. Yellow has ruined USF. What are they going to do for us? Are we going to get the money back? Why don't they gove us some stock in return for our lost wages. Bill Zollars needs to get fired along with the other incompetent mangement.

My husband has been laid off from USF for four weeks. He has been a trucker for 30 + years and never, ever worried about being out of work until he became a teamster at USF. He changed companies to try and secure our future for his remaining years of employment. At the time, USF was independent and stable. Now, we don't know where his future stands. Can we depend on the union leadership to protect us and not give in to Zollars and his thrugs? The take over of USF has been terrible from the beginning. Zollars has taken a secure company and used his greedy management practices to run it in the ground at the expense of my family and others. Concessions are out of the question. Start at the top and let the wealth trickle down. Trim the top and the bottom will prop the whole system up. The heart of the trucking industry is the hard working truck drivers and all they want to do is make a better life for themselves and their families. Let's stand together and protect ourselves from their corporate monsters.

zollars is a thief. for the 33.7 million so far ( FORBES SEARCH ) and admitting they overpaid and overreached for holland, which theyre sucking dry ,he and his family needs to give back that money and move to a modest 200000$ dollar home and they can start over. "hey jackasss with so many peoples lives in your hands:quit.before you ruin all these lives." you smuck. its a big stakes job ,so should be your responsbility.

Seems to me that the company got the consessions that they ask for in the current contract and now they want to reopen that contract that they agreed to and ask us to give them a wage cut so we can keep our jobs like they're doing us a favor. We did not put the company in the shape it is in ,management did,we don't tell management how to run their company but now they have the odassity to come to us and ask us to give them money so they can do business as usual. They are asking us to pay about 50million dollars for their piss poor business decissions.I wonder what they would have told us when they had their highest profit in the history of the company to reopen the contract so we could have higher raises,we don't do that because we live with our contracts for better and worst.
That being said if the company wants us to give them all this money I think we deserve a return on our investment and one of the biggest things is a big change in management from the top down.We have people with colledge degrees that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to operating a trucking company, their as bad as the kid working at McDonalds,if the computer does'nt tell them how much change to give you they're lost.We all can see the stupid things that they do that cost the company money and I'll leave it at that. Now look at UPS a very sucessful company that runs a tight ship but they promote from within the company and YRC could do the same,God knows we have enough people that are more company than Teamsters.
In closing this post all I can say is that YRC has not given me a damn thing,I earn every dime you pay me and if you want me to give you millions of dollars I expect something in return,It has been your way too long and your way just don't seem to be working.Until I see major changes in management I will vote not to give you a red cent.

As a laid off usf employee(who never was laid off befor the yrc got ahold of us) I would just like to vent. Yellow people in managment, let usf go, we as a company can then get back the freight yellow has taken from usf lanes. Sales people on the usf end are not allowed to underbid yellow quotes that yellow sales underbid usf on the first place.
fleet maintence, pay your own bills and quit using holland money.

finally, wtf is this 1.2 million a week administration fee tha holland pays yellow?
