TEAMSTERS, YRC WORLDWIDE REACH AGREEMENT ON ECONOMIC RELIEF

Agreement Will Protect Union’s Freight Members’ Jobs, Benefits

Facing the worst economy since the 1930s, the Teamsters Union and the freight companies of YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) have reached an agreement to provide the company with economic relief that will protect the jobs and retirement security of tens of thousands of Teamsters.

“This agreement will help the company get through this deepening recession and protect the jobs and health, welfare and pension benefits of our freight Teamsters,” said Tyson Johnson, Director of the Teamsters National Freight Division. “This is a very difficult time for our members, but this agreement will protect the livelihoods of our members and their families, which is our number one priority.”

The details of the agreement will be discussed on Wednesday, December 3 with leaders of local unions that represent members from the YRCW companies—Yellow Transportation, Roadway, USF Holland and New Penn. If the local leaders approve the plan, Teamster freight members will be asked to ratify the agreement next month. About 40,000 Teamster drivers, dockworkers, clerical employees and others are actively employed at the companies.

“I believe our freight members understand the terrible economic conditions that are battering the trucking industry,” said Jim Hoffa, Teamsters General President. “We are facing the worst economic environment since the Great Depression. We all need to work together to get through this period of uncertainty. This agreement will help protect tens of thousands of our members’ jobs. Failing to act now would be a grave mistake.”

It's all well and good that we as teamsters work together with YRC to pull through this economic downturn But, the same type of cuts have to be made all the way to Mr. Zollars. In order for this to work everyone has to sacrifice not just the union members. All the company employes need to take a cut.I want to see the "YRC WORLD WIDE INC. MANAGEMENT" (CEO'S) cut their million dollar a year salaries.

If YRC wants the concessions ratitied it needs to guarentee that employees are called back to work and stop using casuals

TO ALL YELLOW EMPLOYEE, PLEASE TAKE THE PAY CUT FOR THE SAKE OF ALL TEAMSTERS, ITS JUST US AND ABF LEFT. EVERYONES JOB IS ON THE LINE HERE

I agree with Mem.Mec that all non-union subsideraries should take a pay cut as well; dept belongs to all of us, not just union members.

A BETTER ECONOMIC REIIEF PLAN FOR YRCW AND IT'S EMPLOYEES
1.Full participation in the plan from CEO down.
2.Common stock purchase plan, calculated weekly as a percentage of gross earnings. Should be calculated based on the closing price of YRCW as reported in the Wall Street Journal at closing every Friday.
3.sShould be shown on pay check stub as a payroll deduction (pre tax if possible)the amount of money deducted, share price, number of shares purchased.
4.No fee for administration of plan,or the buying or selling of shares from or to the company.
5.Can not sell shares utill the predetermined date.( example: inception of plan plus 12 months.)
6.Stock certificate can be issued upon request after the predetermined date for selling shares.
7.Sunset clause, employees vote on extention of plan every 12 months.
BEST FOR YRCW
1.Lower operating expenses.
2.Influx of new capital.
3.Strong motavational toll to do a superior job.
4.Solid plan to present to Congress along with current plans for steamlining the company should YRCW ask the goverment for assistance.
BEST PRTECTION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
1.Nobody gives up anything, you are buying a product. WE win or lose according to the stock price.
2.When the company's financial position improves you do not have to fight to get back your previous benifits,as with any other form of concessions.

this being a tough time we are left with no choice.this should be temporary, open to negotiation as time dictates.no company that gave a giveback lasted though this does seem unique.not all of our corp is losing money.i do believe with some time and help our corp can get to the other side, competition is tough. at our sister we are still in the black all the time.at our parent ill bet with just osd, there is a lot of lost money. atp@d i see it.CARE

lets buy yrc

I will be voting no! Daily I witness waste and msmanagement. YRC is operated like the Government. I see union members milking the system and supervisors ignoring it. I see poor road dispatch that creates unnecessary empty miles. I see management working for themselves, protecting their positions at all cost, without regard for the health of the company. Start at the top, when you get to me I'll be glad to do my part.

BOHICA brothers and sisters. This is how the down fall of all these companies starts, with the give backs. We can all remember Preston Frt Red Star Frt. St.Johns. Frt. just to name a few. So for those of you who don`t know what BOHICA stands for, BEND OVER HERE IT COMES AGAIN. See you all in vocational retraining class. Fraternally Yours S.L.D.

We would be fools to vote yes with no conditions. who's to say that the companies will not bank the money we give back and use it to buy their way out of the pension fund the next time around. WITH OUR MONEY!!! A double porking! Accept nothing less than a temporary wage concession with pay restrictions for upper management, guarantees that pulling out of the H.& W. and pension funds are not and will not be negotiable, delete all part time worker language and provide better protection for all laid-off workers. Vote no! If they really need it make them work for it, like they make us work for it every day. Good Luck

What the hell is going on? With 25 years of service at Roadway, now the union is telling me I can`t retire. Why? I am to young. Have to work 5 more years. They just changed the rules in the bottom of the 9th inning. So will there be a Roadway around in 5 years, I doubt it. Seems to me the people at the top of the food chain can and will do whatever they please. Good luck and God bless you all. Fraternally yours S.L.D.

BROTHERS WHEN THE VOTES IS IN GET ALL STEWARDS TO GET A SHEET OF PAPER WITH NAMES AND PHONE# TO VERIFY THAT WE VOTED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO/MIKE TROUT 107

There is no way that I am voting for a pay cut - the YRC executives need to start first with cutting way back on their salaries, give up company cars and no more stinking bonuses for them! (Did you know that the government provides corporations with loop holes so they can write off those bonuses as business expenses on their taxes!)
Their pay cuts alone may just be enough to get them out of trouble. Stop and think before you vote on this - why do think this economy is in the shape it's in - because of the greedy corporate executives that can't seem to line their pockets with enough money! We have got to stand up to corporate america - starting with YRC. This crap has got stop!

management is the one who caused the problem. it needs to start at the top and make it way down. general office is waiting to see what happens with the union before they ask the nonunion employees to take any cuts. we have a contract for a reason they do not. we have given up a lot in the last two contracts to help out the company. zollars made 5.7 million last year,I made 40,000, do the math. Greedy management, like in banking and auto caused this problem.

James Hoffa, is this "change working families believe in"? I don't think so! Don't let Jimmy and Billy kick us while we are down. Let them that profit from your sweat, aching muscles, and stress pay for their own mismanagement.

5 Years at Yellow Freight and now for what nothing? I spent the first 2 winter seasons doing all I could to feed my family and now here we are again. Hope Mr. Zollars has room at his place.

Bend over , here it come again boys. I am a Roadway driver. I can not afford another give back. Jimmy Hoffa, and all the boys have not taken any pay cuts. But yet they sit in Washington and sell us down the river time and time again . old Zollar should be dragged out by his ears. How in gods name does he buy a shit company like USF holland, everybody in America except Zollars knows that.USF has been a sinking ship for years. He must have gotten a kick back . Because thats the only way I can understand why you would buy that company. Why always does it always come back to worker who just wants to feed ,and raise his family. You know what I want to give the union, and upper management. THE FINGER

Wake up America! There will be no end to this until the unions and their sad, suffering companies that belong to them are gone. Down in history. And all because of the unions rigid demands and cumbersome rules.

This is unbelievable watching the demise of what was once TWO upstanding carriers. #1 and #2 in the country. The Teamsters has destroyed all the Union Carriers. Oh yes. And I know what I'm talking about. The waste, laziness, it's not my job attitude. And the company helpless to get rid of them.

It's no wonder these carriers could not stay competitive with the new up and competitive non union carriers!!! When I worked for Carolina Freight and would go into the rail yards in Chicago. There they'd sit, parked off to the side reading their newspapers and drinking coffee. We made good money! Work for it! But nooooooooooooo ... I was a linehaul driver. I'd pull into a small terminal and have to go inside, punch the clock, and wait for a city driver to break up my set and hook me up to go. While I sat on my rear! Two of us getting paid for one job. Does that make sense? And let me tell you this, I had to sneak around to give Carolina an honest days work for my wages. Lord have mercy if one of my union brothers busted me trying to get a hot load somewhere because I was there and the company couldn't wait for the two hour work call. Hot load. Getting it there so an assembly doesn't stop. That's called customer service!!! Not, shoot her! She broke a rule!

This is a sad, sad day indeed for Roadway (wasn't it, once upon a time, the job everyone wanted to have? You had made it to the top if you worked for Yellow or Roadway.

Corporate greed? Geez ... How about corporate survival? Get your hats and smocks out. Everyone left is going to be asking if they want fries with that while all the good jobs that could take care of a family have gone or are in the process of going to China or Japan.
