U.S. Recession Taking Toll on ABF

ABF Freight System, like all freight companies, is doing its best to weather the worst operating period it has ever experienced. ABF, with a reputation as one of the best and most efficient motor carriers in the LTL industry, has suffered an unprecedented drop in shipments and revenues since late 2008 coinciding with the near collapse of the entire U.S. economy.

Due to prudent business decisions throughout its growth as a Teamster-represented carrier, ABF has been able to survive the throes of this recession because it carried little debt on its books and always maintained adequate cash reserves. In contrast, YRC Worldwide, Inc. had very high levels of debt and very little cash reserves to weather the drop in freight volumes and aggressive pricing environment. Full Story....

Ok, listen up here can someone answer me this question,,,,I work for ABF in SCH. Illinois....why does this company likes throwing money away....Example start the day off with 89 loads to break with 49 due in 8 hours. We have 46 dock man stripping loads......we get it down to 18 loads and they have 17 men stay for overtime????? Oh come on now,,,,can I just walk in the office and tell them to just cut me a check since your just giving it away? Can anyone else read between the lines,,,,wake up ABF employees there hiding money and making bad moves to show losses so they can take away what we have all earned in the last 10 years.....I have enough years to retiree but there are many out there that need to know the truth what this company is doing......so before the IBT makes a very big mistake by giving into ABF for cut backs please get your facts straight......ABF has made over $500 million dollars in the last 10 years,,,,they have one bad year like very other company and business out there last year...This company will make it they are a smart company but stop playing with peoples life's.....wake up other locals before you fall for there line of bull!
